ICYMI - WTF happened last week?

🌸 Markets Take a Breather

After two weeks of strong growth, big U.S. stock markets like the S&P 500 and NASDAQ slowed down a little. This is normal—markets don’t always go up in a straight line.

📆 Tariff Talks Extended

Trump is still yapping about tariffs, in an attempt to get the best trade deals for the US. Tbh the US bullies countries into submission, simply by being the default currency everything is pegged to (but that’s just my thoughts…) Having said that, Trump has successfully agreed a deal with Indonesia, with tariffs of 19% on Indonesian goods (down from 33%) with Indonesia not imposing any levies… seems legit.
Other trade decisions have been delayed until August 1. Why does this matter? Tariffs can affect prices in shops and company profits.

📊 Company Profits: What to Expect

In July, big banks and companies will share how much money they made from April to June (called Q2 earnings). Experts expect slower growth compared to past months. This can affect share prices.

⚙️ Gold & Silver Rising Again?

Copper and silver prices jumped as new tariffs were announced. These metals are used in things like jewellery, electronics, and building materials.

💅💅💅 In hot girl news:

Luxury brand Hermès just announced record-breaking sales this year, especially for its iconic Birkin and Kelly bags. Auction houses like Sotheby’s report that some second-hand Hermès bags have outperformed gold, stocks, and even real estate in value growth over the past 10 years.

Why it matters:

Whilst it’s a great alternative investment, the likelyhood of the average women being able to purchase + therefore diversify her portfolio in said way is low. I’d say stick to the stock market, where you can make great gains across asset classes.
